This one is an interesting and unusual chess set made of bone, one side natural, the other side stained red. The king size is 6.7 cm. The set was presumably made in Germany. The design of the knight reminds of Uhlig sets, whereas the bulky rooks are very similar to those of some Nuremberg bone sets. However, the rest of the pieces have a unique style. Other eye-catching features are the crowns of the kings decorated with ornaments, the spherical finials above the crown of the queen and the very beautifully decorated heads of the bishops. I would date the set to the 1920s. Despite the small size this set is very playable, as the pieces have a solid stand and are quite heavy for their size due to the material.
