A small and unusual chess set with a king size of ca. 10 cm (there is a slight height difference between the kings, as the white king is only 9.55 cm in size). I do not know anything in particular about the set, but I assume it was made in Germany in the first half of the 20th century. The material is ivory, possibly mammoth. The kings, queens, bishops and pawns are of slender, upright shape with column like bodies. Kings and queens with crowns, the bishops with a round hat with a small ball finial. In comparison to the rest of the pieces, the knights are of relatively small size as carved horse heads. The rooks as raised towers on pedestals and with brickwork pattern and six crenellations.
