Very heavy early 20th century board made from solid wood. Overall size is 455 x 455 mm. Playing size is 400 x 400 mm with individual squares of 50 x 50 mm.

I acquired it from something in between an antiques dealer and a junk shop. The board was full of scratches and stains and all in all rather dull looking. After buying it, I gave it a proper sanding to remove the scratches and stains and the polished it to a high gloss finish with a ruby french polish to bring the colour back to the wood. Some "before" and "after" pictures are shown below, as well as the result of my work.
